MARRIAGE
When a man and woman love each other, and wish to give their hearts to each other and begin a family, they seek the Holy Sacrament of Marriage. "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and is joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." - Gen 2:24
Couples wishing to be married must meet with a priest at least 4- 6 months prior to their wedding (before reserving a date or a banquet hall). Then a date can be set that is available with the Church.

THOSE WHO ARE CIVILLY MARRIED
Those who are married only civilly need to be married in the Church; this can be a simple exchange of vows before the priest, but they must meet with a priest to prepare. For Catholics, a civil marriage is not a real marriage.

TO BE MARRIED ELSEWHERE
If you plan to be married in another state or country, or in a destination wedding (in a church) you need to do all of your preparation here at St. Nick's; we then send the completed marriage file to the Archdiocese who forwards it to the place of the wedding. Preparation takes 6 months.

Cuando un hombre y una mujer se aman, y desean dar su corazón el uno al otro y comenzar una familia, buscan el Santo Sacramento del Matrimonio. "Por lo tanto, un hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre y se unirá a su esposa, y los dos se convertirán en una sola carne." - Gn 2,24
Las parejas que deseen casarse deben reunirse con un sacerdote al menos 4-6 meses antes de su boda (antes de reservar una cita o un salón de banquetes). A continuación, se puede establecer una fecha que esté disponible con la Iglesia.

LOS QUE ESTÁN CASADOS POR EL CIVIL
Aquellos que están casados sólo civilmente necesitan casarse en la Iglesia; esto puede ser un simple intercambio de votos ante el sacerdote, pero deben reunirse con un sacerdote para prepararse. Para los Católicos, un matrimonio civil no es un matrimonio real.

PARA CASARSE EN OTRO LUGAR
Si planeas casarte en otro estado o país, o en una boda de destino (en una iglesia) necesitas hacer toda tu preparación aquí en San Nicolás; luego enviamos el expediente de matrimonio completado a la Arquidiócesis de Chicago que lo remite al lugar de la boda. La preparación dura 6 meses.
